Blue Lagoon Boat Party from Split: Route, Swim Stops and Tips
Updated: Oct 10
The Blue Lagoon is a big part of the reason people book, and fair enough. It is a shallow bay with white sand under it, which is why the water goes that unreal shade of turquoise/blue that does not look real in photos and somehow looks even better in person.
Here is the route, the timings and how to get the most out of it.
Where We Actually Go
We’ll sail past the islands around Split, but the showstopper is the Blue Lagoon. You get the open water, island coastline and a swim in the clearest water Croatia has to offer.
The cruise out takes roughly 2 hours and 45 minutes. That is not dead time. The bar is open from the moment we leave port, the DJ is on, and by the time we drop anchor the boat has already warmed up properly.
The Timeline
CHECK-IN (13:00-13:45): Check-in at Obala kneza Domagoja 1. Wristband on, and mingle with the other partygoers.
BOAT TIME (13:50): We walk to the boat together. Free shots on boarding.
DEPARTURE (14:00): Music on, and the party starts.
BLUE LAGOON (16:45): Anchor down, party up. Jump into crystal clear water.
SUNSET (18:00-19:00): Enjoy golden hour on the way back.
DOCK (19:00): Boat docks back in Split's main port.
The Swim Stop, Honestly
You get a proper stop, not a token five minutes. There are life jackets available to anyone who wants one, no questions and no judgement.
The water is warm from June onwards. In April and May it is bracing for about 8 seconds and then perfectly refreshing. It is salty, so you float easier than you expect, and it is clear enough to see the bottom.
Four Tips that Actually Help
1. Get in first, film second. The water is stunning and of course you will want to capture it. But don’t forget to disconnect and enjoy the water..
2. Re-apply sunscreen after you jump in. It's easy to forget when you're caught up in all the fun. But as the sun gets lower it's even easier to burn the second half of the day.
3. Take a life jacket if you are not a strong swimmer. Nobody on this boat cares, and it means you can stay in the water the whole stop instead of hugging the ladder.
4. Secure your phone. A strap or a floating pouch. The Adriatic has an excellent collection of iPhones and does not do refunds.
Then Comes Golden Hour
Another highlight of the day. Between 18:00 and 19:00 the light goes gold, the coastline turns orange, the DJ brings the beats and everyone is dancing. Salt in your hair, sun going down over the islands. A true photo worthy moment.
What to Know Before you Book
Boat parties run with up to 400 guests and fill several days ahead between June and August. Card only at the bars, no outside drinks, hand luggage only in the cabin. Your ticket also covers free entry to the club later that night, so the day does not end at 19:00 unless you want it to.
